Music as a Voice for our Inner Struggles

I don’t know what drew me to music exactly, but ever since I was a kid, I felt the need and desire to express myself. I always had deep thoughts and feelings, and always wanted to share those with others. I wanted them to see what I saw, or be able to make sense of themselves from me making sense of myself.

I felt like I could always look at a person’s problems and see it from an angle that they hadn’t considered before, but only because I had gone through the exact same things and took the time to think about those things deeply.

And that’s what writing music eventually became for me. A way to work through my own struggles, thoughts, and feelings, and a way to help others do the same.

I hope that the music I write, can and will touch people, and help them, even if it’s in a small way. Music still touches me and speaks to me in a way that no friend, preacher, or other voice can. (Though friends and preachers can get to me too, thankfully…but not always)

What is a song that speaks to you and how did it help you? Or how is it helping you now? Comment below.

Thanks again for reading!
