The Boss (Bruce Springsteen) on Music

“The best music is essentially there to provide you something to face the world with.” — Bruce Springsteen

I love this quote. I’m not a big “Boss” fan and really haven’t followed his career much, but this quote speaks to me for real. And I think it rings so true.

How many times have you listened to a song that helped get you through a breakup? Helped inspire you to get in a good workout? Helped you to make sense of the loss of a loved one?

In my case, almost all of the above, but also connecting with God. Listening to the right music can get me in the right place to where I feel the presence of God and feel super connected with him even in the worst moments. Or certain songs can inspire me to turn from doing the wrong things or help me to take a different path.

One of my fave things to do is to listen to Latin music while drinking wine and cooking dinner. To me it’s so relaxing and refreshing. Just a good amount of salsa, merengue, bachata, reggaetón, etc., and some “red, red wine, make me feel so fine” (had to throw in a UB40 reference, to date myself I guess).

But I think that would ring true for others. Please share in the comments below, ways music has helped you to face life or just ways it affects you in your life.

Thanks for reading!
